Following the massive success of the BMW E30 Evo, Mercedes had to rise up to the challenge and defeat BMW’s dominating DTM car. Thus, the Mercedes 190E was born. At its premiere in the Geneva auto show, its 502 unit was already sold due to the popularity of the first evolution model. The Evolution 2 was featured with a radical new body design with larger fenders and a huge spoiler, a look that seemed determined to trump over BMW’s homologation DTM cars. Only 500 EVO models were made, making this one of the most exclusive Mercedes cars to own, putting the average price around $200,000.
